Promoting Nutritional Health
through Individualized Consulting

Nutrition Consultations

If you are interested in working with me, contact me and we’ll set up a time for a short, complimentary consultation on the phone or in person. We will discuss your health and wellness goals, and I can explain my process and the kind of changes and commitments I will expect of you. Once we decide that working together is a good fit, we can set a date for our first full consultation.

Before this consultation, I will ask you to fill out some paperwork. This includes my disclaimer, a medical history, a 3-day food journal and the Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ). The NAQ is an online tool that includes over 300 questions about specific symptoms you may be experiencing. The NAQ generates reports which give me insight into the status of several important health foundations. These allow me to determine where to start first—blood sugar handling, digestion, essential fatty acid status, vitamin and mineral status, etc. Before our first meeting, I review all of this data along with your food journal, your particular health challenges, your health and mental health goals, your general lifestyle, plus your available time, and skills in the kitchen. I use this to come up with a list of recommendations.

Then we meet. We review your health and/or mental health challenges and goals, and your food journal. We will discuss how eating (or not eating) specific foods may have impacted your health or your mood. I go over proper function and dysfunction of various bodily processes such as digestion, and how to address it. Finally, we review my list of recommendations and together we come up with an individualized plan just for you.Once we determine what changes you are going to make, we discuss strategies for implementing those changes.

Your success with these first dietary changes is important. Not only will you experience renewed health, but you will also gain confidence in your own ability to make sound nutritional choices. This sets you up for success with additional changes we make along your road to good health and vitality

Examples of Nutritional Changes

The kind of recommendations I may make include:

• Drinking more water
• Eating healthier fats
• Eating more fats
• What fats to avoid, eat, and cook with
• Eating fewer carbohydrates (or more carbs)
• Avoiding refined carbohydrates
• Eating more protein
• Eating more food
• Adding supplements
• Daily exercise
• What foods to eat and when to eat them
• How to prepare foods properly
• How to shop, and where to shop
• Good brands and food sources
• What cookware to use

I can meet with you just once and provide you with a diet and implementation plan, but for the best outcome I recommend that you sign up for multiple sessions. You will receive a discount, plus it allows us to track your progress and make changes along the way. For most people, this is a process. It is a very rare person who can jump in and completely change how they eat overnight. So much of what I do is coaching my clients on how to make the transition. Multiple meetings will also give you the optimal results you deserve. For each meeting, you will complete the Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ). This will show us how you are progressing. We celebrate your accomplishments and then determine the next steps. Many of my clients find that once they experience success and begin to see their health improving, making changes become easier and easier. But there is always more to learn and do. So I like to meet regularly to build on your success and implement the next level of nutritional changes.

Working with Other Health Practitioners

I do not diagnose, treat, nor prescribe. Instead, I support the work you do with your doctors. Nutrition is not a substitute for good medical care, but it can speed your recovery. Good nutrition is one of the primary cornerstones of long-term health and vitality. I encourage you to use all knowledge and services available to you. This includes conventional western medical doctors (primary care physicians, cardiologists, neurologists, etc.) along with all of the alternative health care practices, from naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, therapy and counseling, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, to energy medicine, meditation, and spiritual and religious practices. One therapy may not be enough for the physical and emotional challenges we all face these days, so it makes sense to explore other options to come up with a plan that works just for you. I am happy to communicate and work with any doctor or practitioner you utilize in conjunction with nutrition. However, I believe that nutrition, along with regular exercise, must be one of the pillars of any long-term health plan.

Flourish Nutrition Testimonials

"I just took a 4 session class with Adrienne. It was SO FABULOUS! I learned a ton, dispelled many myths I had learned and have changed my eating and hydration habits. I have more energy, am sleeping better and am losing weight by eating more healthy fats (yes fats!!). I feel like I have woken up my body and am positioned to be healthier than I ever have before! You will learn a ton. The best part if Adrienne is so patient with all of my questions - and I asked a lot of questions. I am planning on taking some follow on courses to dive in deeper on a few topics as well. She is just that good! "

"Thank you so much for presenting the nutrition classes.  I learned so much and am very appreciative of your teaching.  I really liked the way you presented the classes and how much engagement there was within our group.  Also how much I understood what you were saying because the details were clear which helps in my overall thinking process."
"I accomplished certain goals that I never thought I would be able to do.  Main one is the addiction to sugar (as you know).  I have a ways to go but just not eating chocolate has been huge! And I also now know that fat in my diet is a good thing after years of being told it isn’t!"
"I’m looking forward to other classes! With much appreciation."
